Rockstar Garage and Torchmate - Simplifying Custom Vehicle Builds
The Importance of Partnerships
Rockstar Energy needs no introduction. It is one of the leading energy drink brands across the globe. Rockstar has done so much more than create one of the most popular energy drinks on Earth. The company is heavily involved in the action and motorsports industries. It has excelled in more ways than one. A major cause of this is partnerships and collaborations. One collaboration being with Rockstar Performance Garage. RPG is the first lifestyle garage of its kind. It is known for the manufacturer builds it turns out to promote new parts, supporting branding initiatives and activation at events.
RPG has been a long time partner of Lincoln Electric welding and now that RPG has grown, it was able to partner with Lincoln Electric Cutting Systems as well. Owner and operator of Rockstar Performance Garage, Nic Ashby, met at LECS in light of the new partnership.
“One thing that we've always kind of suffered from is the time and expenditure it takes with all of our partner builds to send things out to get them waterjet or plasma cut or things like that. Not anymore! Talking with Lincoln Electric, who we've been a longtime partner with for all of our welding stuff, well, now our cutting systems are all going to be Lincoln Electric too.”
Ease of Use
We gave Nic a tour of the facility and went straight into teaching him how to navigate Torchmate CAD and how to operate the Torchmate and Flexcut machines. He was in awe about the capabilities and the ease of use.
“I could not believe the ease of this. When it comes to CAD it's like that three-letter word that scares anyone. I solve most my problems with a hammer, but you really can't solve that problem with a hammer so they put me on the computer and they started going through the training and it's honestly point and click. It's so simple to run. I designed my own plate for battery hold downs with one of our partner logos on it and came in here and cut it out. Within about an hour and a half I was cutting on the machine. The coolest thing about it is it's all Lincoln, whether it's the controller, the table, the plasma - everything is Lincoln Electric so you don't have people pointing fingers at each other when something doesn't work. You call their tech and it all works out easy because you have one company controlling it.”
SEMA Vehicle Builds
RPG builds many cars and trucks for the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA). The SEMA Show is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world segmented into 12 sections with over 2,400 exhibitors and a New Product Showcase featuring nearly 3,000 newly introduced parts, tools and components. The show draws the industry's brightest minds, hottest products and over 70,000 domestic and international buyers to one place. Many companies showcase products at the event, including Lincoln Electric. The event can massively help a business and its products gain sales and exposure.
“I have to say that I'm pretty excited, but also now there's a lot on our shoulders that we got to get done and get built for SEMA. We have nine cars coming together and we have some crazy utility bed stuff and some Hummers we’re building, some 1123 up-armor Humvee things. This is going to make our lives so much easier. We no longer have to send things out. I can't wait to get this thing in there and then actually feel and use how it works.”
