Using the XOR Weld on Text Graphic Images in Version 5

One thing that can become troublesome when cutting Text and selected Fonts is the ability to let a character’s properties remain intact. In the example below, the letters O, R, and A, must be edited so that the middle of the character does not fall away when the rest of the letter is cut out. One way to do this is to utilize the XOR Weld.

The XOR Weld uses another object’s characteristics to remove a portion of the image you are trying to edit.

Below, rectangles are created which will be used to merge with the text images. The size of the rectangle is in relationship to the amount of area to be removed.

Each rectangle is positioned adjacent to the corresponding character. Select each character individually (Use select tool), then utilize the XOR weld. The XOR Weld is the option on the right.

When performed correctly, the XOR weld produces the following results. This can save a lot of time as compared to using Node Editing to achieve the same results.
