The next big thing since plasma became automated in the mid 70's is called Hi Definition. This is as close as a plasma has gotten so far to laser or water jet but at a fraction of the price. Yet plasma manufacturers have taken high def a step further with Integrated High Definition. Integrated High Def allows for the plasma manufacturer to specify and design all the CNC components like the drives, motors, software, height control to work and communicate together enabling the system to be smart and extremely user friendly. All of this integrated components allow for more accuracy and faster payback as the operator does not have to be an "expert." Plasma by itself is relatively inaccurate but when you identify, compensate and then integrate these inaccuracies with automation you can essentially "outsmart" plasma cutting. Automatic control of different gases, gas pressures while the machine is switching back and forth between straight line cutting and hole cutting are major advantages to achieve bolt ready accurate hole quality.
